Foreign Office

I attach copies of telograms sent to Admiral Mountbatten and Admiral Fraser by the Chiefs of Staff this morning, after consideration of SEACO3 telograms 450-2 (copies also attached) and other rolevant signals.

The Chiefs of Staff suggest that the Foreign Office should now tell our Ambassador in Chungking, for the information of the Generalissimo that the British Force taking the surrender of Hong Kong has been told to conform to

General MacArthur's orders regarding the date. of this surrender.
